“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1
Reasons for Overthinking
Overthinking can be linked to a lack of trust. Due to past hurt, pain, disappointments or discouragements. These experiences resulted in you feeling the need to protect yourself by controlling everything. You believe you can predict the outcome and protect yourself from any potential unpleasant or harmful scenario. However, this is an unrealistic expectation. You cannot control every aspect of your life by over-thinking. In life, there will be variables that are beyond your control.
Faith is required to help with the desire to be in control. Surrender your life to GOD and allow HIM to lead you. Focus on the aspects of your life you have power to change. The ability to focus will reduce overthinking by empowering you to find attainable solutions.
“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” 2 Corinthians 5:7
Overthinking and faith are in conflict with one another. In order to walk by faith, you must trust what you can’t see, predict, or control. This can be a scary process, at first. The more you spend time reading the Bible, speaking and meditating on the scriptures, worshiping, fasting, and prayer, you will begin to trust in GOD more. This is how you build your faith. It is not an overnight or simple process. As you build your faith, it will decrease your overthinking. Trust GOD’s plans are to prosper you and to give you an expected end. You will begin to believe and know that your life is in GOD’s hand.
