Learn the importance of self-discipline for healing.

GOD is a rewarder of those who diligently seek HIM. GOD is not a man that HE should lie. Neither is HE the son of man that HE should repent. HIS word will never return back void unto HIM. When you are consistent in applying the principles of the Bible to your life, you are guaranteed to see change. In this article, we will discuss the importance of being consistent and disciplined to heal from past trauma.

“The LORD is not slack concerning HIS promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9 KJV

What is Self-Discipline?

Self-discipline is the ability to control your feelings to overcome your weaknesses. You are capable of pursuing integrity-based decisions despite the temptation to do otherwise. It is doing what is right regardless of how you feel. You are able to examine the big picture of your actions. Therefore, weighing the potential outcomes and consequences. Self-discipline is an internal regulation to remain consistent and persistent. In the absence of self-discipline, you run the risk of being ruled by your emotions and feelings. This will lead to you remaining in dysfunctional cycles which are not conducive to your healing.

“This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.” Galatians 5:16 KJV

In order to have self-discipline, you must have a vision for your future. Your vision should include short-term and long-term goals. Including daily, monthly, and yearly desired aspirations. These goals will aspire you daily to make decisions that align with your vision. You will become less apt to engage in irrational or impulsive behavior, because it may jeopardize your future. Self-discipline goes beyond having willpower. You will need to have daily habits in place to buffer out the constant distractions and confusion that will attempt to detour you. This is accomplished by welcoming HOLY SPIRIT into your life and following HIS direction.

HOLY SPIRIT is the regulator

Write the vision and make it plain.  In order to have clear direction for your life, HOLY SPIRIT must have an active lead role. Proverbs 14:12, states “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.” KJV. This is to say, everything that may seem right for you, is not what GOD has planned for your life. Your flesh will persuade you to pursue goals, aspirations, careers, relationships, possessions, etc., that are not according to the word of GOD. In contrast this pursuit will be for your comfortableness, pride, boasting and ego. All these things are not what GOD desires for your life. Walking after the things in your flesh will lead to sin, destruction, and the death of your soul. Pray for GOD to allow HOLY SPIRIT to lead and guide you into all truths about the vision HE has planned for your life. Be diligent in your pursuit of GOD’s vision for your life by spending time with HIM daily with prayer, worship, praise, reading, speaking, and meditating on the scripture of the Bible. HE will reveal HIS plan for your life as you build a closer relationship with HIM. As a result, you will become disciplined in how you navigate life. HOLY SPIRIT will provide you with supernatural strength and strategy.
