Hello Summertime Joy
Learn ways to have a joyous summer filled with love and new adventures.
As you heal it is important to celebrate your milestones of growth. Whether they be big or small. Healing is intense, and requires discipline and dedication to obtain long-term results. This is the reason why it is imperative for you to enjoy the journey of healing by celebrating your milestones. In this article, we will discuss how to find joy in exploring new adventures as you heal this summer.
“Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding." Proverbs 3:13 KJV
How to Find Joy
It is important to understand healing is a journey. Its a destination you aspire to reach in which your past trauma triggers no longer dictate your mood or emotions. However, if you take the mind frame of healing being a journey with multiple destinations, you will begin to find joy in the process. You won’t feel anxious to rush yourself to push past or ignore pain points. Instead, you will begin to face them head on with the boldness that once this hurdle is conquered, you will discover your true level of endurance and strength. As a result, you will find joy in your healing journey.
“I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all." Ecclesiastes 9:11 KJV
Ways to find Joy
Change your mindset
Healing is a lifestyle. Change your thought process to understand you are on a journey of healing with multiple destinations of growth.
Get some exercise
Enjoy the outdoor by taking a walk in the sun. Join a local gym where you connect can with others.
eat healthy
Eating a high-nutrient diet is proven to improve brain function and improve your mood. Find new and exciting ways to incorporate more vegetables, fruit, and water in your daily diet.
laugh more
Stop waiting for the perfect moment to enjoy yourself. Find a reason to laugh and smile daily.
connect with others
Find volunteer opportunities in your neighborhood or local church where you can give back with your time and resources.
show gratitude
Be grateful for what may seem as the smallest blessings. Do not take anything for granted. In all things give thanks to others and especially GOD.
Explore New Adventures
Explore new adventures as you heal this summer. There is beauty in finding new things to do and enjoy. As you heal, your preferences and environments will begin to change. You will discover you no longer desire the same people, places, or things. Not because there is anything wrong with them. It is a result of you changing. Remaining in the environments where you experienced trauma, may not be productive. It may actually hinder your healing, because you will be continuously triggered to repeat or remain in dysfunctional cycles. This is why it is imperative for you to travel to new places, find interesting things to do in your local city, and develop new healthy relationships. By doing so you will become a more joyous person by experiencing new things.

Take away the fear
Don’t be afraid to explore new things alone. You are discovering the new healed version of yourself. In addition, just because you are healing, does not mean everyone around you will be receptive or supportive of you changing. It not your responsibility to convince or persuade others to accept you. Accept yourself, embrace the new you, and learn to walk in confidence and boldness as you rediscover what you like. Try doing a simple internet search for free local events in your community, join a cooking class, sign up for your local library’s events. There are numerous ways you can explore just within your city. The key is for you to put yourself out there, come out of isolation, and enjoy all the things life has to offer. Joy is a choice. Decide today to be a joyous person.
