get your house in order
Learn how to organize your home and increase your productivity.
Creating a space where you can be relaxed, creative and productive begins with being organized. It’s difficult to be productive when your home is chaotic. Success requires structure and consistency.
“Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.” Isaiah 43:18 KJV
Overcome your past attempts
Even if you have tried to be organized, start with a new plan to overcome all past attempts. Be open to a new way of doing things. Do not allow your previous organizing goals, to detour your hopes of having a structured environment. Create the home you want in order to be productive and successful.
Being organized requires effort. It’s more than an idea or hope. You need a plan. Brainstorm ideas about how you would like your home to feel, smell, look and overall function. Start with a new mind frame and do not be afraid to let go of old things.

Get Started Organizing your Home
Organizing your home does not have to be complicated. Simplify the process by not over-analyzing. Organize your home to create a structured environment for your productivity to increase.
Start with one space. Think of the space you use the most and start there.
Utilize what you have. Find containers in the space or other rooms in your home to separate items.
Minimize. Simply, remove anything from the space that is not currently being used.
Everything has a place. Find an space or container for every item. Place similar items in the same area for convenience.
Donate. Give away gently used or new items you do not use.
Trash. Throw away broken, well-used or junk items that no longer serve the space. *Read the owners manual for proper disposal of electronics, chemicals, paints, etc.
Replace what is broken. For the essential items you will need for the space to function, replace what is broken. i.e. desk chair, desk, computer pad, etc.
Buy new items. Now that your space is organized, it’s time to start the fun part of buying new items! A key component to remaining organized, is to only buy what you need. Purchasing new items in the hopes of getting organized, often ends with the space being overcrowded. This is will result in organized chaos with items being stuffed in closets or other rooms in hopes of using them one day.
Save the shopping for new items to the end, as a reward for all your organizing. Purchase items that will make the space more functional and achieve your desired look and/or feel.
