how to uproot OFFENSE

When you are removing weeds from a garden, you must be sure you pull them up by their roots. You can’t just yank them out or they can regrow. Even if the small pieces of their roots remain. This is the same concept which applies when you are removing feelings of offense from your heart.

Discover the source of the offense. Being offended is a spirit that hides behind pain and trauma. It hides behind feelings of resentment, envy, bitterness, and even hate. This is why it is deeper than just letting it go. It is imperative for you to face the pain which triggered the feelings. First, identify the goal of the spirit of offense is to bring division. Next, pray and ask HOLY SPIRIT to reveal the root your offended feelings. Then, find scriptures in the Bible you can meditate and speak daily about forgiveness and unity.

Remove the source of the offense.  Pain has deep roots and the only way to dig them up is with forgiveness. First, recognize when the feelings of offense arise. Next, gain clarification from the person or event on what their intentions were. Oftentimes, you can become offended by a simple misunderstanding. Once, the true motives are revealed, be intentional about forgiving. Then, decide whether you will remain in the same environment with boundaries or remove yourself, without holding on to any feelings of bitterness, resentment, or offense.

1 Corinthians 3:6 KJV

how to plant seeds of forgiveness

Forgive even when pulling up the roots of offense still hurts

The hardest part of letting go of the feelings of offense is when it still hurts. Forgiveness does not justify the actions of those who have caused you pain. It sets you free to receive the abundance available to you. Trauma was trying to destroy the ground of your heart. By causing you to become closed off or put your guard up. This did not allow for you to show or receive genuine love. However, you will need an open heart to produce the good fruit of healthy relationships in your life. Sometimes you may never receive an apology or changed behavior from those who have offended you. But, you have to be intentional about the seeds you continue to water. Everything you focus on continously will bear fruit. Stop watering the seeds of offense, resentment and bitterness, when you desire healthy relationships. Now that you are healing from the trauma, it is time for you to decide what type of seeds you are going to plant in your life. Open your heart to receive love after pain of trauma with forgiveness. Planting seeds of forgiveness will spring forth and harvest the abundance you desire for your future.
