What is Confidence?
In a society consumed with negativity, it may be difficult to find your sense of confidence. Confidence is a firm assurance. You are bombarded with social media content, news feeds, tv shows, and other media outlets that promote self-doubt. It is common to log into a social media outlet to see an endless sea of self-doubt and loathing. From clickbait posts in an effort to gain the approval of others to affirm their accomplishments. Being confident, when you’re surrounded by distortion, can be perceived as arrogance.
When you doubt your ability to succeed it can result in you internalizing your successes. You attribute your achievements to external factors. Limit your social media consumption when you are dealing with fraudulent feelings of doubt. Resist the urge to compare yourself to unrealistic depictions of success. You do not have anything to prove. Instead, focus on building your confidence. Confidence is trusting your capabilities, discernment, and instincts. It is imperative for you to build your confidence to overcome self-imposter syndrome.
“It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.“ Psalm 118:8 KJV

Celebrate your success. From the daily goals you’ve reached to your huge milestones. Pause for a moment to recognize how far you have come and the effort it took to achieve each step. This does not convey that boasting of yourself in a grandiose manner, in an effort to show off or prove to others that you made it. However, allow yourself space to celebrate your accomplishments. This will provide you with the opportunity to gain perspective and clarity. You will begin to discern the thoughts of doubt and fear, are imposters to hinder you from your future. You will also reach higher levels of success because you will come to the realization that you are capable to overcome obstacles. The thoughts from self-imposter syndrome can appear in various ways, i.e., the superhero, know-it-all, perfectionist, loner, and mastermind.
